Reading Reflection 2

My Book was The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzpatrick

1.     The general theme of this book was how to use social media effectively in a business format. This book was basically a guide composed of tips for how to be the ultimate social media guru. It covers all sorts of things from building your profile from the ground up in the best way, to how to get more followers without buying them or asking for them.
2.     This book connects with the marketing aspect of entrepreneurship. It teaches you how to build a social media platform that enhances your reach and helps to build an image for you or your business. It also helped me to realize how big of a deal social media can be in entrepreneurship. I always just looked at social media to stay connected and get news and memes but it can be a science that maximizes the success of your business.
3.     The exercise I would have is an exercise where you build the optimal social media account for the business venture that you have come up with. You would read this book and take tips from it to make a social media platform that entices people to learn more about your product and eventually purchase it.

4.     I had a general ‘aha’ moment where I realized how important social media can be to a business and how intricate the process is for creating a business page. I always thought there was not too much thought behind a business profile and that they just tweeted promotional material, but this is untrue. There is a science behind all aspect of the profile and every post they make.

  1. I did my reading reflection on the same book, "The Art of Social Media" by Guy Kawasaki. I agree that this book really opened my eyes to the extent that a successful social media platform can help you succeed in the area of marketing for your business. I had a similar idea for an assignment that can be created for this class based on this book. I know you said that you thought of social media as a place for news and memes, but you will now realize the large amount of advertisements and even targeted advertisements based on your interests and hobbies that will pop up on your social media sites.

  2. This book sounds very helpful to those trying to run a successful social media presence for their business. I've had jobs where my role was to manage the social media accounts so this book would have been useful then! Since this class is all online and already is based on blogs and technology I think creating a social media profile for our business ideas would be a very good assignment.
