Halfway Reflection

First off, I you should take this course if you want to have a leadership job. This course is demanding because there is a lot of work to be done but if you manage your time it is not hard to turn in on time. The best way to manage this is to start your assignment early in the week sometimes even the Sunday before the week starts. If you finish all your assignments or just have the end of an assignment to finish up by Friday this class is not stressful, but becomes enjoyable. I think the most difficult part of this semester was the week where we had two interview assignments due. This is not normal because usually there is only two assignments a week. This was a point where I wanted to give up and just take a zero on an assignment but I told myself to just keep pushing and that there were so many people around Gainesville to interview in my target group. It turned out the interviews were not that difficult to acquire because there are so many people in Gainesville available to talk to you.

The three tips:
1.     challenge yourself to get the work done and to put in max effort
o   It feels good when you finish something that seemed very difficult. Also, when I would go to do peer reviews and realized how other students had worked hard or fell short it made me feel good about putting in the effort.
2.     Don’t let yourself get behind because this dampens the tenacious mindset.
o   Even if you already have this mindset, if you allow yourself to have three assignments still to do on Friday morning it will dismantle that mindset.
3.     Know that all the people in your classes are already your competitors and your product is you.
o   If you think this way it will push you to be the best you can possibly be and try to outperform the people around you. Competition is one of the best driving forces to motivate you.

  1. You give great advice. It was a good point that you should think of your classmates as your competitors to keep you pushing for your best. I didn’t think like this before but it would definitely make some people want to deliver the highest quality work they could!

  2. Great job on all three parts. I do agree that starting your assignments early on in the week is very beneficial in this class because waiting to do all the work on Friday makes this class way more stressful. Overall great tips especially the one about challenging yourself and putting max effort I think it is very important in this course.
