My Entrepreneurship Story

       My Entrepreneurship Story starts with my father who is an entrepreneur himself. He attended the University of Florida as a Journalism major. When he graduated, he planned with his three best friends to create an orthopedic instrument distribution company called Precision Orthopedics. As a young child, I watched my father and his friends start with a small local business with just four employees to a large business, now being contracted out by Zimmer, one of the biggest orthopedic instrument companies in the country. I watched my father's idea turn from just a thought and an opportunity into a business that now makes over a million dollars a year. The crazy thing is that only one of the men who started this business did any college classes on sales or business. The rest of them just took advantage of an opportunity and worked tirelessly. This is the first time I was introduced to entrepreneurship and it has driven me to be the best I can be and to also strive to take advantage of opportunities.

    I also based my entrepreneurship story on the experience I had with my family's business. These entrepreneurial experiences are inspirational when you get to witness them firsthand. And the exposure I had to my family's business motivated me to become a business major. Are you interested in joining your father's company or are you seeking to use your entrepreneurial skills elsewhere?

    I agree that entrepreneurial inspirations from firsthand sources are incredibly enriching. I'm glad you got the opportunity to inherit some of the entrepreneurial spirit from your family. Seems right that you're enrolled in ENT3003

Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

1.      My ability to relate to anyone that I meet very quickly. o    This is valuable because it can help in situations with pitching ideas to a probable investor or meeting with prospective customers. If you can relate to those people they will connect with you. This may not be very rare but I feel like it is a pretty unique characteristic many people can communicate well but to be able to understand what people like very quickly and be able to talk about those things is somewhat rare. I think this is hard to imitate because it is a skill that has taken many years to obtain by talking to many people and getting good at reading their personalities. Growing Your Social Capital

1.      1 st person o    The first person I contacted is John Morgan an Outside Sales Associate for Air Filters, Inc. o    This person is filling my supplier slot because as an outside sales person he sells filters and parts for filters to other companies that would be likely competitors. o    I found this person through LinkedIn and contacted him through their In-Mail feature. o    I simply asked Mr. Morgan who his top consumers were and whether his main sales were to other businesses or to the ultimate consumer.
